College Station High School FFA members compete at state LDE contest

Dec. 12, 2023—Members of College Station High School FFA Chapter traveled to Sam Houston State University on Dec. 1 to compete in Texas FFA’s Leadership Career Development Events (LDE). College Station’s Ag Issues, Public Relations and Ag Skills teams qualified for the state competition by finishing first or second in one of the state’s 66 district competitions and first or second in one of twelve area competitions.

 

At the state competition, teams compete in a preliminary round with 12 teams competing in one of two heats. The top five teams in each heat advance to the final round where they are given an overall placement.


CSHS LDE Ag Issues Team
Members of the College Station High School FFA Ag Issues team competed at the Texas FFA’s Leadership Career Development Events at Sam Houston State University. The Ag Issues team placed fifth in the preliminary round and tenth overall at the state contest.

College Station FFA’s Ag Issues team placed fifth in the preliminary round, advancing them to the final round where they placed tenth overall. Team members included junior Lainey Bone, sophomore Isabella Bramwell, senior Callie Grimes, sophomore Jacob Knight, senior Olivia Smith and sophomore Brynlee Wilson.

CSHS Ag Skills Team
Members of the College Station High School FFA Ag Skills team competed at the Texas FFA’s Leadership Career Development Events at Sam Houston State University. The Ag Skills team placed ninth in the preliminary round at the state contest.

 

College Station’s Ag Skills team placed ninth in the preliminary round. Team members included senior Garrison Fortner, senior Emily Kasowski, senior Brady Lambert and senior Kyler Wendt.


CSHS FFA PR Team at State
Members of the College Station High School FFA Public Relations team competed at the Texas FFA’s Leadership Career Development Events at Sam Houston State University. The Public Relations team placed eleventh in the preliminary round at the state contest.

College Station’s Public Relations team placed eleventh in the preliminary round. Team members included junior Layla Aguilar, senior Carly Jo Janac, junior Layni Kaase and junior Caroline Kerby, with senior Katelyn Reese as an alternate.

 

The Texas FFA is the nation’s largest state FFA association with a membership of more than 156,000 active FFA members. FFA programs teach skills in leadership, career development and personal growth. FFA gives students the opportunity to practically apply classroom knowledge to real-world experiences through local, state and national competitions.

 

Sam Houston State University has partnered with Texas FFA in hosting these competitions for more than 80 years.
