Success, Each Life...Each Day...Each Hour

Early Head Start

Early Head Start is a federally funded home visiting program that serves eligible pregnant women and infants and toddlers under the age of 3. Children and families in Early Head Start receive comprehensive services that include health, dental, nutrition, family wellness, education, disabilities, and family services as a part of the federal guidelines.

Each family is assigned a parent educator who comes to the home every week for a 90-minute experience with the parent(s) and child. The goal of these visits is to provide support for goals that the family has and to provide ideas and activities for the parent(s) and child to enjoy together. Materials that are easily available in the home are used for these activities and parents are encouraged to take the lead as they are the first and most important teacher for their child.

In addition to home visits, Early Head Start families are given opportunities to meet and engage with other children and parents in the program. Play Group is held at various community partners. This unique time consists of play activities, snacks, and story time, all designed to be appropriate and accessible for young children. Transportation can be furnished to appointments or Play Group when arranged ahead of time.
