—Four CSISD intermediate and middle school theatre productions performed at the College Station ISD Middle School One-Act Play Festival, held Dec. 8-9 at College Station High School.

The following four CSISD productions were performed at the festival:

  • Lafayette No. 1 – A&M Consolidated Middle School
  • Complaint Department and Lemonade – Cypress Grove Intermediate School

  • The Audition – Wellborn Middle School

The festival included a one-hour technical rehearsal on Dec. 8 and then performances on Dec. 9.

For the technical rehearsal, productions were given one hour to completely build their set, focus show lighting, set sound levels, practice vocalization, and get comfortable in the performance space.

For the performances, each production was allotted seven minutes for set up, 40 minutes for the show and seven minutes to take down set pieces. Students performed in front of a panel of judges who ranked the performances as Fair, Good, Excellent, or Superior.

This district-wide event was a collaborative effort by CSISD theatre departments and volunteers, including 20 high school theatre students who assisted by hosting, being judge’s assistants, running crew backstage or in the booth, and supporting lighting and sound.

“For many students, this is their first time to perform or be on stage,” said Larry Robinson, festival contest manager and College Station High School theatre teacher. “We are very proud of all the students that participated and are grateful for the staff and volunteers that put this competition together.”
