College Station High School Band Director Eric Eaks was promoted to be the district’s director of fine arts announced CSISD Superintendent Clark Ealy today.
Eaks is expected to be approved by the CSISD Board of Trustees at its next monthly meeting on Tuesday, July 16.
Eaks has been the only band director at CSHS since the school opened in 2012, where he led the establishment of the program into one of the most decorated in the state.
“Eric has high expectations for students and works great with parents,” Ealy said. “Eric's ability to come in to a new situation, to evaluate the strengths and needs of various programs, and to develop a plan to meet the vision and goals for our fine arts programs will serve CSISD well. I am excited to see how all of our fine arts programs will realize even more success in the future under Eric's leadership.”
A native of Hobbs, N.M., Eaks was an assistant director of bands in Harlingen CISD, and associate director of bands at both O'Connor and Taft high schools in Northside ISD prior to his band director position at CSHS.
Eaks has a bachelor's degree in music education from Texas Tech and a master's of conducting from the University of Oklahoma.
