Feb. 13, 2024–Five wrestlers from A&M Consolidated High School and College Station High School placed in the top four of their respective weight classes at the Region III-5A Wrestling Championships on Feb. 9-10 at Anna High School to qualify for the UIL Class 5A Wrestling State Tournament, scheduled for Feb. 16-17 at the Berry Center in Cypress.
The fifth-place wrestler in each weight class will advance to state as an alternate. The following five wrestlers and three alternates placed in the top five in the region:
Boys
Third Place
- Roel Marquez-Rocha, A&M Consolidated, 106 pounds;
- Jack Murphy, College Station, 157 pounds; and
- John Humphries, College Station, 165 pounds.
Fourth Place
- Alex González, A&M Consolidated, 120 pounds.
Fifth Place (alternate)
- Tate Jasperson, A&M Consolidated, 175 pounds.
Girls
Second Place
- Landri Von Gonten, A&M Consolidated, 132 pounds.
Fifth Place (alternates)
- Brianna Young, A&M Consolidated, 138 pounds; and
- Chiri James, A&M Consolidated, 120 pounds.
