CSISD cross country teams finish season at Cross Country State Championships, earn postseason honors
Dec. 13, 2023—The College Station High School girls’ and boys’ cross country teams and A&M Consolidated High School girls’ cross country team competed at the UIL Cross Country State Championships on Nov. 3 at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.
The College Station girls’ team placed fifth overall with 183 points. The top-10 finish was the team’s second in a row (the Cougars placed third in 2022). Senior Delaney Ulrich led the way, finishing 10th overall (18:23.8).
Also running for the Cougar girls’ team were senior Katherine Brunson (37th,19.14.7), senior Jadyn DeVerna (60th, 19:40.0), freshman Cindy Ramirez (79th, 19:56.2), junior Ellie Seagraves (110th, 20:23.1), junior Audrey Wong (127th, 20:47.4), and junior Allie Fleener (146th, 21:42.4).
Following the 2023 season, Ulrich was named to the Cross Country Coaches Association of Texas (CCCAT) 5A All-State team, Region 3-5A All-Region team, and the Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) 5A All-State team. Brunson was named to the TGCA 5A All-State team and Region 3-5A All-Region team.
The College Station boys’ team placed ninth overall with 240 points.
Cougar boys’ team runners were Vance Ballabina (56th, 16:29.9), senior Noah Benn (61st, 16:34.3) senior Dylan McCue (75th, 16:45.0), sophomore Justin Boatcallie (80th, 16:49.2), senior Grant Maraist (131st, 17.44), sophomore Camilo Riano (132nd, 17.44.7), and senior Eli Frey (137th, 17:55.0).
The A&M Consolidated girls finished 13th overall with an overall score of 296 points.
Tiger runners were freshman Alexandra Staack (42nd, 19:20.6), sophomore Lizzy Gregory (92nd, 20:07.7), junior Madison Black (104th, 20:18.8), freshman Hayden Helms (109th, 20:21.8), sophomore Rachel Moran (115th, 20:32.5), freshman Rebecca Moran (121st, 20:43.4), and Logen Feldhousen (143rd, 21:31.1).
Following the 2023 season, Staack was named to the TGCA 5A Cross Country All-State Team and the CCCAT Region 3-5A All-Region team. Black was named to the TGCA 5A-6A All-Star Team.
In addition to their accomplishments at the state and region level, several CSISD runners were selected to All-District 21-5A cross country teams.
