College Station, Texas - The College Station ISD Board of Trustees met Tuesday, September 19. The following discussions and actions are of note.
WORKSHOP
K-12 Summer Accelerated Instruction Discussion: Executive Directors of Secondary and Elementary Education, Tiffany Parkerson and Dr. Stormy Hickman, provided the board with information related to state requirements of HB 1416, the various programs offered and the number of students participating in each program. CSISD provides accelerated instruction at no cost to our students.
PUBLIC HEARING
2022-2023 STAAR End of Course (EOC) Exams Report: Dr. Molley Perry, Deputy Superintendent/CAO and Tiffany Parkerson, Executive Director of Secondary Education, reviewed the required accelerated instruction results for STAAR EOC exams in the 2022-2023 school year.
MEETING
The Board recognized students and staff members from Southwood Valley and River Bend.
Professional Learning in CSISD: Jeff Mann, Director for Instruction & Leadership Development, provided the board with a review of professional learning in CSISD.
Approval of new Director of Communications: The board voted 7-0 to approve Dr. Tim Harkrider’s recommendation to hire Austin Dunson as the new Director of Communications for CSISD.
Award of contract for upgrades to 5 secondary campuses security vestibules: The board approved the recommendation of Chief Financial Officer, Amy Drozd, and Executive Director of Facilities, Jon Hall, to enter into a contract with J.T. Vaughn Construction, LLC in the amount of $510,000 utilizing the Adam Family Donation for funding.
