Success, Each Life...Each Day...Each Hour

2021-2022 COVID-19 INFORMATION

Updated:  August 20, 2021

CSISD’s goal is to work within state-mandated requirements, while keeping schools as safe as possible and open for in-person instruction throughout the school year. Within the CSISD COVID-19 Mitigation and Response Plan, you will find details regarding actions the district is taking to prevent and respond to cases of COVID-19 in College Station ISD. These CSISD guidelines are in accordance with requirements from the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), Texas Education Agency (TEA) and Governor Abbott’s Executive Orders.

Highlights of the plan include:

  • SCREENING -- Students and staff should perform a self-check for COVID-19 symptoms before leaving for school each day.  Individuals experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 should not attend work/school. Students or staff displaying symptoms at school will be screened by the nurse and sent home if COVID-19 is suspected.
  • HYGIENE -- CSISD will continue to encourage good hygiene among its staff and students by reminding students to frequently wash their hands and making hand sanitizer available throughout its buildings.
  • SANITATION -- Custodial staff are trained in proper cleaning and sanitation techniques of high touch surfaces and areas and specialized equipment. High touch areas will be cleaned daily using disinfectant.
  • POSITIVE CASE REPORTING / NOTIFICATIONS -- In addition to reporting all known confirmed-positive cases to the Brazos County Health District and the Texas Department of State Health Services, College Station ISD will update the dashboard each day class is in session.  CSISD will notify elementary parents when there is a positive case in their student’s homeroom class via email.  Families and staff at the secondary level (grades 5-12) will be notified via a campus specific dashboard that provides information about daily new cases by teacher and class period.
  • ISOLATION -- Staff and students who have COVID-19 are required to isolate and follow the district’s return guidelines as outlined in the district’s Mitigation and Response Plan.
  • VACCINATIONS -- For those eligible, the CDC and local health authorities have recommended getting the COVID-19 vaccine, but an individual’s vaccination status will not prohibit them from entering CSISD facilities.
  • FACE COVERINGS (MASKS) -- While the use of face coverings is not required, CSISD strongly encourages students and staff to wear face coverings - especially during this current surge of positive cases in the community.
  • VIRTUAL LEARNING -- CSISD will not offer virtual learning for the 2021-22 school year.  The state did not fund a virtual learning option for the 2021-22 school year.  Any person interested in virtual learning may do so via the Texas Virtual School’s Network.
  • QUARANTINE / CONTACT TRACING -- The Texas Education Agency no longer requires contact tracing or quarantine for individuals who have come into close contact with someone who is confirmed to have COVID-19. Individuals who are known to have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19 may choose to quarantine.

CSISD may need to change protocols at any time in response to requirements from the state or to address specific needs and circumstances in order to protect the health and safety of students, employees and the community.
