May 24, 2024–Elementary through high school students in College Station ISD earned recognition and awards at statewide art events this spring including the Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) Elementary Art Meet (TEAM), TAEA Junior Visual Art Scholastic Event (Junior VASE), TAEA Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE) and the Houston Art Car Parade.
26 elementary and intermediate school students participated in TAEA TEAM, a statewide online arts event recognizing exemplary elementary student artwork. Cypress Grove Intermediate School fifth-graders Ben Turner and Avery Witte submitted artwork that was selected as “Top of the TEAM,” works that are rated in the top 10% of all submissions, and 23 others received Exemplary ratings.
Cypress Grove Intermediate School sixth-grader Mya Saldana, art teacher Christine Grafe, sixth-grader Nylee Folloso and sixth-grader Fiona Ponte at the 2024 Texas Art Education Association Junior Visual Art Scholastic Event. Saldana, Folloso and Ponte earned Exemplary Ratings for their artwork at the competition.
Three students from Cypress Grove Intermediate earned Exemplary ratings for their artwork at the Texas Art Education Association Junior VASE, a TAEA visual arts event recognizing exemplary, intermediate, middle school, and junior high student artwork.
16 CSISD high school students advanced to the Texas Art Education Association State Visual Art Scholastic Event where their art was showcased and rated by a panel of judges. Nine student artists received the highest honor, Exemplary Rating IV.
16 students from A&M Consolidated High School, College Station High School and College View High School participated in the TAEA VASE State Event. Nine students received the highest recognition, Exemplary Rating (IV), and were awarded a State VASE medallion.
Seven student-artists from A&M Consolidated High School showcase their Magic School Bus themed car at the 2024 Houston Art Car Parade.
Seven students from A&M Consolidated High School participated in the Houston Art Car Parade, showcasing their creativity with a Magic School Bus themed car. The Houston Art Car Parade is the largest celebration of its kind in the world, featuring over 250 entries and attracting hundreds of thousands of spectators as the mobile masterpieces created by artists, students, youth groups, families, organizations and anyone with a passion for creativity roll through downtown Houston every April.
