May 8, 2024–A&M Consolidated High School junior Raines Watson competed at the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Golf State Championships held April 29-30 at the Legacy Hills Golf Club in Georgetown.
Watson placed 32nd at the state tournament with an overall score of 152, shooting 75 on the first day and 77 on the second day.
At the regional tournament, Watson shot 158 to place fourth, advancing him to the state tournament as an individual. Other Tiger golfers that competed at regionals were junior Mo Iero (168, 26), senior Jack Hanna(170, T29), senior Kyle Schnabel (173, T34) and junior Tucker Stapp (180, T48).
At the District 21-5A tournament, the Tiger boys’ golf team shot a collective 629 to place second overall, with Watson bringing home the individual district championship shooting 148. Stapp followed, placing fourth at the two-day district tournament shooting 152. The College Station High School boys’ golf team finished their season seventh overall in 21-5A.
