COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The College Station ISD Board of Trustees met Tuesday, August 18. The following discussions and actions are of note.
MEETING
Approval of 2020-2021 budget and tax rate: After five workshops discussing the 2020-2021 budget and tax rate, the CSISD Board of Trustees approved the two items unanimously.
The combined tax rate will be lowered one cent from $1.239 per $100 of valuation to $1.229. Last year, the tax rate was lowered 13.3 cents, marking a 10.4 percent decrease in the tax rate over the last two years. Included in the adopted tax rate is an additional “golden penny” in the maintenance and operations tax rate which adds an additional $1.6 million in revenue to the budget.
The adopted budget reflects an overall deficit budget of approximately $2.689 million for the General Fund. Despite adopting deficit budgets in recent years, CSISD has traditionally ended the year with an audited surplus. The adopted budget versus final audited financial statements for the last five years are listed below.

Purchases/Bid Approvals:
- Approved the ratification of the Operation Connectivity Interlocal Agreement between Region 4 Educational Service Center and CSISD for technology purchases in the amount of $103,950.
- Approved the annual renewal for PowerSchool Software Maintenance and Support Agreement in the amount of $164,647.68 for the 2020-21 school year from the general fund.
- Approved the annual renewal for NearPod Lesson Libraries in the amount of $69,960 from the instructional materials allotment.
