Alison DeLuna was named the principal of Southwood Valley Elementary today by College Station ISD Superintendent Dr. Clark Ealy.

DeLuna is expected to be approved by the CSISD Board of Trustees at a special meeting on Friday, May 3, at 4 p.m. in the CSISD boardroom.

DeLuna, currently the assistant principal at Creek View Elementary, will begin her new duty at the conclusion of this school year.  She is replacing respected and long-time CSISD administrator Kristiana Hamilton, who is retiring at the end of the year.

“Even more than her instructional knowledge, Ali is a people person,” Ealy said.  “She is always positive and student-focused, while having the ability to relate well with students and parents from different backgrounds.  I am looking forward to Ali’s leadership at Southwood Valley and adding to the many good things already happening there.”

DeLuna was selected from a deep pool of candidates from within and outside the district.

DeLuna is completing her fifth year as assistant principal at Creek View Elementary.  Prior to that, she served Bryan ISD as a master teacher and instructional coach at Milam and Crockett Elementaries.  She also taught language arts and social studies at Mary Branch Elementary and social studies and science in Mumford ISD.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from the Texas A&M College of Education in 2003 and her Master’s in Educational Administration from Sam Houston State in 2007.

DeLuna and her husband Caleb have four children:  stepson Izak, who is an 8th grader at AMCMS; Macie and Marlie, who are fourth-graders at Creek View, and three-year-old Garrett.
