College Station High School’s Camille Chiu was recently a Grand Prize winner and six other College Station ISD high school students won awards at the Austin Energy Regional Science Festival
Chiu earned a passel of awards, including the Texas State University Master of Arts in Technical Communication Science Writing Award, a job-shadowing opportunity in the Austin research community, first place in the category of Physics and Astronomy, and advancement to the International Science and Engineering Fair in Phoenix as a Grand Prize winner.
Olivia Conway from A&M Consolidated High School earned the Superintendent’s Award and the American Society of Biochemical and Molecular Biology Award in the category of Cellular and Molecular Biology.
Sohmee Kim (CSHS) earned the American Psychological Association Award and second place in the category of Behavioral and Social Sciences, and Andrew Zhang (AMCHS) won second place in the category of Biomedical and Health Science. Both advanced to the state fair of Texas.
Avha Mohanty (AMCHS) placed fourth in the category of Animal Science, while Shiva Saravanan (AMCHS) earned fourth place in the category of Computer Science-Systems Software.
Selena Li (AMCHS) earned an honorable mention award from the Society of Women Engineers in the category of Materials Science.
These students are coached by Michelle Jedlicka at AMCHS and Casey Akin at CSHS.
