REGULAR MEETING

Report on the new CSISD Learner Profile: Dr. Penny Tramel, Chief Academic Officer, shared the district’s new “Learner Profile” in a presentation to the board.

The CSISD Learner Profile was developed by the CSISD administrative team, including central office staff and campus administrators, using the board commitments and beliefs as a starting point.

A learner profile is a document which a school or district uses to specify the cognitive, personal, and interpersonal competencies that students should have when they graduate.

The learner profile is divided into five main areas:

  • Communicates and collaborates effectively - Practices shared responsibility and flexibility in working collaboratively and communicating productively.
  • Personal wellness - Practices healthy habits to maintain healthy social emotional well-being.
  • Seeks knowledge and understanding - Demonstrates intrinsic motivation to learn and possesses solid foundational skills and consciousness about self and others.
  • Contributes as a socially-engaged citizen - Takes initiative to give back to the community and the world and models a demeanor of mutual respect for all.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and problem solving - Sees adverse situations and problems as opportunities to be creative, persevere, and overcome obstacles.
